San Francisco -> Sausalito -> San Francisco - Day 4, Tuesday

Today was a long day. Due to the jet lag I woke up at 5:30 am but at least that meant an early start. We started with a walk that lead us through the Mission and Castro Districts, Downtown San Francisco, China Town and Little Italy. Some parts of the city were really nice but we didn't like the part of Downtown around Market Street. Rather dirty and lots of weird people there.

Near the City Hall people were watching the game USA vs. Belgium on a (surprisingly not so) big screen. Also almost every bar had it on. People were definitely hooked but sadly the USA lost today and have to go home now.

We continued our day with renting a bicycle near Pier 39 which was a great decision. Along the Bay we rode to the Golden Gate Bridge (with lots of great foto opportunities along the way). The closer we got to the bridge, the more windy and cloudy it got, also there was fog again. The funny thing is, just a few kilometers away most of the Bay Area was sunny while on the other side there was fog rolling in from the Pacific.

The ride over the bridge was amazing, a great experience! Afterwards we had dinner in Sausalito, a lovely place at the other end of the bridge. The ride back proved to be a bit difficult as the rental bikes have no lights and it was dark already. We made it back safely but I'll definitely send an email and complain about the no lamps policy.

I'm in bed now and really need to get some sleep now, tomorrow we have an early start again, going to Alcatraz in the morning.

View from the area near Glen Park were we are staying.

Lots of steep hills

Castro District
Cable Car, we have planned a ride for tomorrow

Another very steep hill, Telegraph Hill I guess.
